For Workers

Legal employment in Croatia and the EU — no wandering, no hidden costs.

Registering with us is free. We look for positions matching your experience, guide you through documentation and work permits, and remain available even after you arrive at the job.

Reach us at +385 91 514 0192 or info@peoplepons.com. We respond in English, Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian, Montenegrin and Macedonian.

What you get through us

Not just a job — the whole path to it.

A job with a foreign employer isn't just a signed contract. We know how much paperwork, travel and steps stand between application and the first working day — and we walk you through that part.

Informed presentation

Before we present a position to you, we talk to the employer about terms, salary and accommodation. You get a clear picture before deciding. The final assessment of the company is yours — we are a mediator, not a guarantor for the employer.

Help with documents

We tell you exactly which documents to obtain, how, where and how to translate them. We don't leave you to figure it out on forums.

Work permit and paperwork

If the position requires a work permit or visa, we coordinate the process with the employer and competent institutions in the country of work. You get a clear list of your part of the job and approximate timelines.

Transport and arrival

We coordinate arrival date and transport with the employer. You get information clearly, you don't guess when and where you're going.

Accommodation and integration

Before arrival you receive information about accommodation and conditions from the employer. If something isn't right after arrival — we help communicate with the employer and find a solution.

Support after arrival

The first weeks matter most. We're available for questions about salary, shifts, accommodation or anything that worries you.

How the process goes

Five steps from application to the first working day.

Every step we explain to you before it starts. You know what you need to bring, what we do, and how long it takes.

  1. 01

    Application

Get in touch through our contact form, email or phone. We need a brief CV or a list of previous jobs — handwritten is fine. We respond within 1–2 business days.

  2. 02

    Interview and screening

A short conversation in person or via video. We talk about your experience, desired position, expectations (salary, accommodation, arrival timing) and what we can realistically find.

  3. 03

    Presentation to employer

When we have the right opportunity, we send your profile to the employer with our comment. We always ask you first — we never share your CV anywhere without agreement.

  4. 04

    Documents and permit

Once you agree with the employer, we coordinate the work permit procedure and related paperwork (when needed). You get a clear list of documents you obtain and those we handle together with the employer.

  5. 05

    Arrival and first day

We coordinate arrival, transport and accommodation (if the employer provides it). On your first working day you have a contact both at the employer and at us.

Your rights

Same rights as a local worker. Written into the contract.

A worker from BiH, Serbia, North Macedonia or Montenegro with a valid work permit in Croatia has the same employment rights as a Croatian citizen. If someone tells you otherwise — something's wrong.

(For work in the EU, rights apply according to the legislation of the country of work — ask us about your specific situation.)

  • Written employment contract in a language you understand.
  • Salary cannot be lower than the legal or sectoral minimum.
  • Overtime is paid at the statutory rate.
  • Right to annual leave, sick leave and public holidays.
  • Health and pension insurance (HZZO, HZMO).
  • Right to report violations to the labour inspectorate.

What to watch for before signing

A small reminder so nothing surprises you later:

  1. 1Read the contract before signing. If it's in a language you don't understand — request a translation.
  2. 2Check the salary amount (gross and net), the hourly rate, and who pays for accommodation and transport.
  3. 3Don't hand over your original passport to anyone. Only a copy, and always know where your original is.
  4. 4Keep your copy of the contract, work permit and payslips.

If something isn't clear or seems off, ask. Better before signing than after.

Questions we most often get from workers

Open — including the uncomfortable things few people talk about loudly. If your question isn't here, get in touch.

Do I have to pay you anything?

No. Mediation service is free for the worker. The fee is paid by the employer. We don't ask for a deposit, we don't ask for payment in advance for an interview, we don't ask for a registration fee. If anyone asks you for money in our name — tell us immediately.

Do I need to have secondary school or experience?

It depends on the position. For some positions, health, motivation and willingness to work are enough. For specialised positions (welders, drivers, caregivers) we ask for proof of qualifications. Get in touch — we'll assess together.

How long do I wait for a job after applying?

It depends on the position, sector, country of arrival, the speed of obtaining the work permit (if needed) and the speed of communication with the employer. A realistic framework for most cases we can't guarantee in advance — we'll give you a framework for your specific situation once we assess the profile and required position.

What documents do I need?

Basics: passport (valid at least 6 more months), birth certificate, criminal record certificate and proof of qualifications if the position requires them. For some countries and positions a medical certificate may also be needed. You get a detailed list from us when we start the procedure.

Who provides accommodation?

Accommodation is typically provided by the employer, but conditions vary. Accommodation conditions are defined by the employer in the cooperation contract with us before any candidate inquiry — and those conditions are passed on to you before signing the employment contract. You'll know: is accommodation included, how much it costs (if deducted from salary), how many people share a room and where it's located. The employer is contractually obliged to stick to those conditions.

What if the job doesn't suit me once I arrive?

Call us first. Often problems (disagreement with foreman, accommodation, shift) can be solved by conversation. No one can force you to stay — if it really doesn't work, we can offer to look for another position with another employer. The reason for leaving we assess together.

Do I have the same conditions as a local worker?

Yes, in every EU member state. In Croatia: by Croatian law, a foreigner with a work permit has the same employment rights as a local worker (minimum wage, overtime, annual leave, sick leave, health insurance). Similar applies in DE/AT/SI/other EU countries — rights are protected by local legislation and EU directives. The employment contract must explicitly cover this.

Where do you send my CV — can I refuse an employer?

You decide. Before we present your profile to any employer, we ask you and describe the position, company and conditions. If you don't like it — we send nothing. We never persuade anyone into a job they don't want.

What if my work permit isn't approved?

Work permits are issued by competent institutions of the country of work — we prepare the documentation, but the decision isn't ours. If the permit isn't approved (most common reasons: incomplete documentation, registered penalty, prior deportation), we try to understand the reason and, if possible, correct and repeat the procedure. You owe us nothing for the service.

Can I bring my family?

It depends on the country of work, type of work permit and your status after a few months/years of work. Most EU countries enable family reunification under certain conditions (stable job, income, accommodation). That's a process you lead with institutions of the country of work — we can point you in the right direction, but we don't lead the procedure.
